It Was Dublin City On A Friday Night

I got up Friday morning and decided to go for a jog around campus. More like a walk around the outskirts and then a few laps around the track. Dublin weather is perfect running weather, so I figured I'd enjoy it while I can. On my way back to Roebuck, I literally ran into Arianna, a fellow U of I friend who is studying in Nottingham and in Ireland visiting a friend. We had made plans to hang out that afternoon but she ended up having to take care some of stuff and I ended up having a meeting. After the group meeting, I lounged in my room, until Stevie, Jen, and I had decided to go grab some dinner in town. Stevie and I had been in Quinn all afternoon and Jen, the aspiring law student was perched at a table, papers spread out, ear plugs in, in typical study mode fashion.

We spent the bus ride contemplating life in general and mostly what path my life is going to take. A little stressed about summer internships and career paths and the pressure of deciding what I want to do with the rest of my life. Summer is approaching and the closer it gets the more unprepared I feel. While debating the prospects (a summer in the YUKON?), I felt better. These girls know what they are talking about. Opinions I could appreciate. Do what makes you happy. Move to Canada, become a teacher and make six figures. Be a personal assistant. Something that I think I would actually enjoy doing. We will see. It'll all work out somehow.

Jen had raved about the wings at Elephant & Castle so we headed there to find there was a 2 hour wait (no thank you) so we wandered around Temple Bar (full of live music as always) and found a Spanish restaurant. There's not much true Irish cuisine, and there's only so much stew a girl can have when its nice out. The Spanish restaurant was super cute and we got a nice booth and ordered paella and sangria. We continued our good conversation and just enjoyed a nice evening out.

We went on a search for dessert but the Queen of Tarts was closed. Hello Dublin, dessert places should be open later than 9 pm. The streets were lively and we made friends with a bride to be as she passed us in her limo. We settled on ice cream from the SPAR and continued walking around the streets of Dublin talking about Tiger Woods. We cover all subjects in our talks. We all agreed that Dublin is such an awesome city, and only wish that UCD was within walking distance so we could just hang in the city all the time.

We headed back to UCD and I fell asleep quickly as Saturday promised to be an early morning.
